Bootstrap Themes

Ranena Community Borehole Project

DDP conducted geological surveys that established suitable sites for borehole drilling in Ranena. The drilling location led to immovable large rock that halted the process further. In the determination to find a solution, a second geological survey was conducted in about 1 km from the original point. Due to unsuitable ground conditions, the second geological survey also failed leading to exploration of other avenues. DDP engaged the community which led to consideration of rainwater harvesting systems or tapping into a nearby water sources. This led to provision of water tanks as the a long-lasting solution was being established.

The final solution established was to solarize the existing boreholes in the nearby communities water to an elavated water reservoirs. The water is then supplied to community water points, schools and churches for easy communal access. This is aimed at solving the water crisis during dry season and ensure availability of clean drinking water to community members.
